Thanks for the egg shell advice. I think I tried that years ago, but should maybe try again. Bran is pretty good - but tends to leave a nasty mouldy mess! yeeuch.
PTB about your virus! Maybe you really should get a new computer. Mac give pretty good educational discounts to students! :o)
